Cluely review (2026): pricing, the free plan and using Cluely for interviews

Disclosure: we make InterviewWhisperer, a Mac app that competes with Cluely. This review is built from what Cluely publishes about itself: its pricing, help pages, refund policy and terms, read on 2026-10-21. We haven't used Cluely in a live interview, and we don't quote anyone else's reviews. Where Cluely is the better pick, we say so.

Cluely made the real-time AI assistant famous. Today it sells itself as a meeting assistant and notetaker: a desktop app for Mac and Windows, plus an iPhone app, that listens to your call, takes notes and answers when you press ⌘ Enter. This Cluely review covers Cluely pricing, what the free plan gets you, how refunds work, and whether Cluely is a good fit for job interviews.

Prices are from Cluely's pricing page on 2026-10-21. The yearly totals are the per-month prices times 12. Cluely's support site is clear about the split: Pro + Undetectability is the only current plan that hides Cluely during a screen share, and the standard Pro plan doesn't include it.

Is there a free version of Cluely?

Yes. Starter is free and covers the core features with limits: a limited number of AI responses a day (Cluely doesn't publish the number), limited meeting notes and up to 3 files. The limit resets every 24 hours. The free plan doesn't include unlimited AI chat, unlimited notes or hiding from screen share, so it's a way to try Cluely, not something to lean on in an interview where you share your screen.

Can you use Cluely for interviews?

Cluely says you can. Its homepage FAQ answers "Can I use Cluely as an interview AI assistant?" with yes: it listens to the conversation, keeps notes and gives real-time help with context, answers and follow-up points.

Three things are worth knowing first. Cluely is built and sold as a meeting assistant, for sales calls, lectures and client meetings. Its refund policy lists "interview software detection" among the cases it won't refund and points interview use to Interview Coder, which it calls a standalone product. And hiding from a screen share costs $149.99 a month.

Even on that plan, Cluely's support page says Zoom isn't covered by default: you need Zoom 6.16 or older, or Zoom's "Advanced capture with window filtering" setting turned on. The same page says Cluely can show in a Microsoft Teams entire-screen share.

What Cluely does well

  • Easy to start. There's a free plan, and Pro is $19.99 a month, or $11.99 a month billed yearly.
  • Works across meeting apps. It listens in the background, takes meeting notes, and answers questions about your screen or the conversation when you press ⌘ Enter (Ctrl Enter on Windows).
  • Mac, Windows 11 and iPhone. A desktop app for both systems and a separate iPhone app.
  • Your own instructions and files, and you can ask it about past meetings.
  • Open about its limits. Its support site lists the meeting apps it hides from and the ones it doesn't.

Where Cluely falls short

  • Hiding from screen share is $149.99 a month (or $539.88 a year). Pro on its own doesn't include it.
  • A 24-hour refund window, and only with video evidence that Cluely doesn't work on your computer. Its refund policy says detection by screen-sharing software and slow answers aren't refundable.
  • Zoom needs a setting change, or an older Zoom version, before it hides, per its own support page.
  • No Windows 10. Cluely says it doesn't support Windows 10, only Windows 11.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically, and its pages disagree on what cancelling does: its cancellation policy says you keep access to the end of the billing period, while a support article says cancelling ends Pro access immediately.

Is Cluely worth it?

For meetings, Pro at $19.99 a month is a fair price for unlimited answers and notes, and the free plan lets you try it first.

For job interviews it's a harder sell. The plan that hides from a screen share is $149.99 a month, Zoom needs extra setup, the refund window is 24 hours, and Cluely's own refund policy steers interview use to another product. If you interview on a Mac, InterviewWhisperer is built only for interviews and hides from screen share on every plan, from $29 for a week.

How InterviewWhisperer is different

Cluely is a general assistant for every kind of call. InterviewWhisperer only does interviews, so it's set up for them: you load your resume and the job description once, and when the interviewer finishes a question you press ⌘; for a short answer you can say out loud, built from your own background. Press ⌘W on a coding problem for the approach, the code and the complexity, and get a recap of every question when the call ends. Screen-share hiding isn't a separate tier: it's on every plan, including the $29 week.

  • Try it first. Your first 30 minutes of live answers are free, no card.
  • Pay for the search, not a subscription. $29 for a week or $149 once for three months, and neither one renews. If you'd rather pay monthly, it's $69 a month and you can cancel anytime.
  • A real refund. A full refund within 7 days of buying, even if you've used it.
  • Hidden on screen share on every plan. We've tested it in Google Meet and in Zoom, both the desktop app (with Screen capture mode left on Auto, the default) and the browser. A phone camera pointed at your screen can still see it.
  • Mac only. It needs an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later).
