Prices are from Parakeet AI's pricing section on 2026-10-21, for a visitor in the US. A call session uses half a credit for 30 minutes and extends by another half credit if it's still running, so one credit is an hour of calls. Prep-only tools (resume maker, headshots, question bank) are $22.90 a month each and don't include calls.
Is there a free version of Parakeet AI?
Yes. Parakeet gives you 10 free sessions of up to 10 minutes each, and you can start a new one every 12 minutes, plus one free mock interview. No card is needed. Ten minutes is short for a real interview, but it's enough to test it on your own setup before you pay.
What Parakeet AI does well
- Auto Answer. It detects questions as they're asked and suggests answers without you pressing anything, with Answer and Screenshot buttons for when you want control.
- Coding help, with code suggestions and explanations, in interviews and regular calls.
- Your own context. It uses your resume or CV, your documents and up to 20,000 characters of instructions, enough for a whole job description.
- Mac, Windows and Chrome. A desktop app for both systems, desktop Chrome (which is also how it runs on Linux) and a phone browser version.
- Phone interviews over Google Voice.
- Credits that never expire, if you only have a couple of interviews.
Where Parakeet AI falls short
- Expensive for a short search. One week is $78 and a month is $149.90.
- A narrow refund. You get a full refund within 7 days only if you haven't used the purchase (starting a call session counts), and only once per person. A technical problem on Parakeet's side can still be refunded within 30 days of buying.
- Zoom needs setup. Parakeet's FAQ says to update Zoom and turn on "Advanced capture with window filtering," or it can show in what you share. The browser version can't hide at all.
- No phone app yet. Its FAQ says a native app is on its way. For now the phone version runs in the browser.
- Some employers can block it. Parakeet says it honors blocklist requests from any employer that sends its domain or hiring process.
Is Parakeet AI worth it?
If you want answers to appear without pressing anything, or you interview on Windows, Parakeet does that, and the free sessions let you check it on your setup first.
For a week or a few months on a Mac it's expensive next to InterviewWhisperer: $78 against $29 for a week, and $449.70 for three months on its monthly plan against $149 once. And once you've used a Parakeet purchase, you can only get money back for a technical problem on its side.
How InterviewWhisperer is different
Parakeet answers automatically if you want it to. InterviewWhisperer waits for you: when the interviewer finishes, you press ⌘; and a short answer you can say out loud appears, built from your resume and the job description, so it doesn't answer small talk or a half-finished question. Press ⌘W on a coding problem for the approach, the code and the complexity, and get a recap of every question when the call ends. In the Zoom desktop app there's nothing to change: leave Screen capture mode on Auto, the default.
- Try it first. Your first 30 minutes of live answers are free, no card.
- Pay for the search, not a subscription. $29 for a week or $149 once for three months, and neither one renews. If you'd rather pay monthly, it's $69 a month and you can cancel anytime.
- A real refund. A full refund within 7 days of buying, even if you've used it.
- Hidden on screen share on every plan. We've tested it in Google Meet and in Zoom, both the desktop app (with Screen capture mode left on Auto, the default) and the browser. A phone camera pointed at your screen can still see it.
- Mac only. It needs an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later).
