Final Round AI review (2026): pricing, features and a cheaper Mac alternative

Disclosure: we make InterviewWhisperer, a Mac app that competes with Final Round AI. This review is built from what Final Round AI publishes about itself: its pricing, help pages, refund policy and terms, read on 2026-10-21. We haven't used Final Round AI in a live interview, and we don't quote anyone else's reviews. Where Final Round AI is the better pick, we say so.

Final Round AI is one of the best-known AI interview copilots: a desktop app for Mac and Windows that listens to the interviewer, suggests answers using your resume, reads coding problems off your screen and writes a debrief afterwards. The price it leads with, $25 a month, is the yearly plan paid upfront. One month on its own is $150. This Final Round AI review covers what each plan really costs, what the free plan does and doesn't include, how refunds work, and who it's worth it for.

These are the plans Final Round AI's subscription page loaded on 2026-10-21 for a visitor in the US who wasn't signed in. Its homepage lists what paid access includes: unlimited live Interview CoPilot sessions, Stealth Mode, automatic debriefs, practice interviews and screen help. Its FAQ tells you to check the final amount at checkout and warns that "a displayed average monthly price is not necessarily a monthly charge."

If you've seen lower prices, they may come from Final Round AI's own pricing blog (updated 2026-09-28), which lists $90 a month and $180 a quarter. Those aren't the prices its subscription page loaded for us.

Is there a free version of Final Round AI?

Yes, but not for the part you'd use during an interview. The free plan lets you set up Goals with your resume and materials and turns a job description into a prep checklist, and the desktop app is free to download. Live and practice sessions need a paid subscription, and its homepage says plainly that there is no free trial. (Its pricing blog mentions a 10-minute trial session, which the homepage and FAQ don't.)

What Final Round AI does well

  • Mac and Windows. Downloads cover Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, and Windows 10 or newer.
  • One session for every question type. It works out whether a question is general, coding or system design as the conversation moves, so there are no modes to switch.
  • Answers from your own material. It can use your Goal (the job and its description), your resume, uploaded materials and a Playbook that sets the answer style.
  • Screen help. Auto-capture and a Solve screen button read coding prompts, diagrams and documents during the session.
  • Phone and in-person rounds. A separate mode listens through your microphone and uses a saved voice sample to tell you apart from the interviewer.
  • Prep around the interview. Practice interviews with an AI interviewer, and a debrief after each session.
  • A refund window on every plan, monthly included, with the limits below.

Where Final Round AI falls short

  • You can't try live help first. There's no free trial of the copilot, so your first live session is a paid one.
  • Expensive for a short search. One month is $150. The lower monthly prices need $250 or $300 upfront.
  • Every plan renews automatically until you cancel, per its terms (last updated 2026-10-08).
  • The refund closes quickly. You have 72 hours from the charge, once per customer, and not at all if you've had 2 sessions longer than 30 minutes in that billing period. Stripe's processing fees come out of approved refunds.
  • It records your sessions. Its FAQ says the desktop app automatically records audio during live, phone and practice sessions and uploads it afterwards, and there's no setting to turn that off.
  • A recent macOS for call audio. Capturing a call on the same Mac needs macOS 14.4 or newer.

Is Final Round AI worth it?

It can be, if you want a full prep platform and you'll use it for months. You get practice interviews, debriefs and a copilot that handles coding, system design and phone rounds, on Mac or Windows, and the yearly plan brings it down to $25 a month.

It's harder to justify for a search that's only a few weeks long. One month is $150, you can't try the live copilot before paying, and the refund is gone after two long sessions. If you interview on a Mac and want to try live help first, InterviewWhisperer gives you 30 free minutes and then costs $29 for a week.

How InterviewWhisperer is different

Final Round AI is a prep platform with a live copilot attached. InterviewWhisperer is just the part you use during the interview, priced for a job search. When the interviewer finishes a question you press ⌘; and a short answer you can say out loud appears, built from your resume and the job description. Press ⌘W on a coding problem for the approach, the code and the complexity, and get a recap of every question when the call ends. Our privacy policy says we don't store your interview audio or transcripts on our servers.

  • Try it first. Your first 30 minutes of live answers are free, no card.
  • Pay for the search, not a subscription. $29 for a week or $149 once for three months, and neither one renews. If you'd rather pay monthly, it's $69 a month and you can cancel anytime.
  • A real refund. A full refund within 7 days of buying, even if you've used it.
  • Hidden on screen share on every plan. We've tested it in Google Meet and in Zoom, both the desktop app (with Screen capture mode left on Auto, the default) and the browser. A phone camera pointed at your screen can still see it.
  • Mac only. It needs an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later).
